Welcome to the Astor Theatre Arts Centre's site. As has always been our goal, in 2008 The Astor will be concentrating on becoming a full arts centre, offering classes, workshops and masterclasses in many performing and creative entertainment arts, run by professionals - check out our Performing Arts Academy page. The Astor Theatre Arts Centre The Astor Theatre Arts Centre is a special venue where we have accumulated a lot of knowledge about theater equipment and use this to create outstanding productions. We are run by a self funded, independent small charity,headed by professionals.  Despite popular belief it is not run by the council and also does not receive funding from the Arts Council or any other funding source.  We survive, just, hand to mouth, some months are good, some months are bad. We have been waiting since April of last year for a small grant from Dover Council, who recently announced that they had to slash their grant awards by nearly one million pounds - perhaps we should give them lessons in budgeting! Our mission is provide an arts centre for the whole community, offering classes and tuition eventually in all performing and creative arts, plus full facilities.
